Earnings Previews: Jabil, Lennar, Planet Labs, Trip.com

Of eight analysts covering the stock, all have a Buy or Strong Buy rating on the shares. At a price of around $5.35 a share, the upside potential based on a median price target of $9.00 is 68.2%. At the high price target of $12.00, the upside potential is almost 125%.

Revenue for the third quarter of fiscal 2023 is forecast at $47.19 million, down 2.6% sequentially and up 48.9% year over year. Analysts are forecasting an adjusted loss of $0.11 per share compared to a loss of $0.07 per share in the prior quarter and a loss of $0.16 per share in the year-ago quarter. For the full fiscal year ending in January, Planet Labs is expected to post a loss of $0.38 per share, down from the year-ago loss of $1.70, on sales of $187.08 billion, up 42.6%.

Planet Labs is not expected to post a profit in 2023 or 2024. The company’s enterprise value to sales multiple for 2023 is 5.3. For 2024, the multiple is 3.8. The stock’s 52-week range is $3.70 to $9.95. Total shareholder return for the past 12 months is negative 39.9%.

Trip.com

Travel services giant Trip.com Group Ltd. (NASDAQ: TCOM) has posted a 12-month share price increase of just over 32%. The stock touched a nine-year low in mid-March following government-imposed lockdowns in some of China’s major cities. Since that bottom, the stock has bounced up by nearly 98%. The company reports results after markets close on Wednesday.

Trip.com’s version of Alibaba’s Singles Day (November 11) generated an 84% year-over-year increase in bookings. The relaxation of China’s strict zero-covid policy is expected to continue boosting Trip.com’s business in its home country.

Of 31 brokerages covering the stock, 27 have Buy or Strong Buy ratings. The rest have Hold ratings. At a price of around $34.00, the shares have outrun the median price target of $32.07. At the high target of $40.36, the upside potential is 18.7%.

Analysts expect Trip.com com to report third-quarter revenue of $922 million, up 54% sequentially and by 11.3% year over year. The consensus forecast also calls for EPS of $0.18, compared to a loss per share of $0.05 in the prior quarter and year-ago EPS of $0.13 per share. For the 2022 fiscal year, analysts are looking for EPS of $0.24, down nearly 28.4%, on sales of $2.8 billion, down 11% year over year.

Trip.com stock trades at 142.1 times expected 2022 EPS, 30.0 times estimated 2023 earnings of $1.13 and 16.8 times estimated 2024 earnings of $1.60 per share. The stock’s 52-week range is $14.29 to $34.35, and Trip.com does not pay a dividend. Total shareholder return for the past year was 35.7%.
