Tech, Mega-Cap Stocks Rally in Tandem as Tariffs De-escalate

Key Points

  • President Donald Trump has paused the 50% tariff on E.U. goods this weekend.

  • Macroeconomic data coming in today has also been good.

President Donald Trump recommended placing 50% tariffs on the European Union last week, but this was suspended temporarily this weekend after the E.U. agreed to increase the pace of negotiations. Now that the tariff risk has been pushed back, markets are rallying.

Macro figures today also came in quite bullish. Consumer confidence seems to be returning, and most companies have beaten estimates this earnings season. Only a few more are left, which include Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA). Investors are waiting for Nvidia to drop earnings results tomorrow. If it beats expectations by record numbers once more, consider that the AI rally is back on in earnest.

Here’s a market update as of 11:00 AM (ET) today.

  • The S&P 500 is up 88.49 points, or 1.52%.
  • The Nasdaq Composite is up 356.12 points, or 1.9%.
  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 506.84 points, or 1.22%.

Tech Stocks Rally

Mega-cap stocks and tech stocks are going higher today.
