One S&P 500 Stock Has Already Almost Doubled in 2025

The last few years have seen some of the strongest annual average returns on the S&P 500 since 1980. While 2025 is off to a relatively slow start, some S&P stocks have achieved staggering gains since the start of the year.

With the S&P 500 more concentrated than ever -- 10 companies accounting for about 40% of the index -- just a handful of mega-cap stocks are dictating the direction of the broader market. Many of the biggest winners this year are defense contractors and software giants, reflecting the mix of technology, energy, and consumer demand has driven market momentum this year.

As of early July, several S&P 500 companies have posted gains of more than 40%. One stock, however, has far outperformed all others, beating the S&P 500 average by more than tenfold. This outsized rally comes from a software firm profiting off surging demand for AI-driven analytics. A closer look at the data reveals the S&P 500 stocks with the biggest year-to-date returns in 2025.

To determine the S&P 500 stocks with the biggest year-to-date returns in 2025, My Investing News reviewed data on daily closing prices from Yahoo Finance. Companies were ranked based on percentage change in closing price from January 1, 2025 to July 9, 2025.
